McDonald's Expands Test of Krispy Kreme Donuts to 160 Locations in the Louisville, KY Area

McDonald's will be expanding their market test of Krispy Kreme donuts to about 160 locations across the Louisville area and Lexington area in Kentucky starting on March 21, 2023. The test originally started at nine restaurants in the area late last year.

During the limited-time test, you can find three Krispy Kreme donuts--the Original Glazed, Chocolate Iced Sprinkles, and Chocolate Iced Kreme Filled--all day at participating restaurants in the area, while supplies last.

A successful test might see Krispy Kreme donuts being offered at McDonald's restaurants nationwide. In recent years, the chain offered Pull-Apart Donuts and Donut Sticks but for a limited time. They currently offer an Apple Fritter as part of the McCafe Bakery menu.

The test fits into Krispy Kreme's current business model. In recent years, Krispy Kreme has expanded to a hub-and-spoke model where they deliver donuts fresh daily from their local donuts shops to grocery and convenience stores. Adding McDonald's restaurants in that mix should be fairly easy.
