Review: Taco Bell - Yellowbird Nacho Fries

Taco Bell Yellowbird Nacho Fries feature features Yellowbird + Taco Bell Spicy Habanero Ranch sauce, warm nacho cheese sauce, steak, shredded cheddar, and reduced-fat sour cream over a bed of seasoned fries.

An order of the nachos cost me $5.49.

The new Yellowbird + Taco Bell Spicy Habanero Ranch sauce offered a moderately spicy profile with a slightly fruity tang and savory creaminess. That being said, besides for the red-flecked yellowish appearance, it's not a marked departure from previous spicy ranch sauces that Taco Bell has featured in the past (White Hot Ranch and Reaper Ranch come to mind).

Other than the new sauce, the topped Nachos Fries comes with a very familiar combination of Taco Bell staples.

The fries were lightly crispy and lightly seasoned, while the nacho cheese sauce was smooth, creamy, and mild. I could have used more nacho cheese. The shredded cheddar on top added mostly texture.

The steak was tender and relatively moist with lightly seasoned flavor. There was a decent amount buried in the fries in good-sized pieces.

The sour cream was head-scratching redundancy for me as the nacho cheese and cheddar provided enough creaminess and the Spicy Habanero Ranch was already tangy. It was pretty much there because it's always there.

Overall, Taco Bell's Yellowbird Nacho Fries turned out well but was a bit too similar to previous Nacho Fries offerings.
