A 10-oz resealable bag goes for $4.99.
Opening the bag yielded the tangy aroma of dark chocolate.
The cocoa powder that covered each almond left a slight, barely visible coating on my fingers as I ate.
The dark chocolate layer was just enough to deliver a fairly rich dark chocolate flavor tinged with just a bit of salt and maple flavor that quickly gave way to the crunchy roasted almond underneath. The overall effect was tasty with an unexpected complexity.
When it comes down to it, Trader Joe's Slightly Coated Dark Chocolate Almonds made for a welcome change from the more candy-like aspect of most chocolate-covered almonds. While chocolate-covered almonds taste more of chocolate than almond, the reverse is true here and I really enjoyed it.
