An 11.1-oz box carries a suggested price of $4.99 but I received this courtesy of Kellogg's.
According to the box, these are made with a combination of rice flour, whole grain oat flour, and whole wheat flour, whereas regular Rice Krispies are made with rice. The texture here is more dense with less bubbling, which amounts to a much more muted popping when milk is added versus the original. They're slightly more crunchy than regular Rice Krispies but seem to get soggy in milk just as fast.
Flavor-wise, Rainbow Krispies tastes more like Trix than Froot Loops, which is to say that there's more of a citrus-y element here (it also makes sense as Trix is made by General Mills and Froot Loops is made by Kellogg's).
Like other fruity cereals, you get some fruity-flavored cereal milk at the end.
Taken altogether, Rainbow Krispies feels like Kellogg's take on Trix. They offer a similar texture and taste but seem less crunchy. They are a bit shoe-horned into the Rice Krispies brand as the shape and texture are pretty different.
