A 12.7-oz box includes 10 individually-wrapped snack cakes and costs $3.50 or so but I received this courtesy of Hostess.
With the recent heat of this summer, the frosting/icing on mine were a little melted but were no worse for the wear other than being a little more messy to eat.
The fudge wasn't overly sweet and offered a pleasant, mild chocolate flavor with a slightly waxen but still somewhat melty coating. It covered the snack cake fairly evenly and probably help keep the cake moist.
The cake inside had a fairly uniform and tight crumb with a slightly chewy bite to it. It was decently moist with a nice yellow cake flavor that contrasted nicely with the chocolaty coating. The slightly vanilla-y creme inside offered an additional layer of flavor and texture, although it was a bit uneven in this particular cake.
Taken altogether, I quite enjoyed Hostess Ding Dongs x Twinkies Mashups. Although the name doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, the snack cake fares much better with a balanced mix of chocolate and vanilla flavors to go with creamy, spongy, and smooth textures.
