It cost me $6.79 for the burger.
There was a lot of thick, pickled jalapeno slices in my burger. It was enough to make an even layer throughout the burger. Eaten alone, they were quite spicy and sour but the heat mellowed out when eaten with the rest of the burger. The sour notes were a bit much for a burger and threw off the balance.
The cheddar cheese sauce reminded me of the cheese in a Handi-snack but with more meltiness to it. It offered very mild cheddar notes to go with a mellow creaminess and was somewhat boring as it had a similar profile as the two melted slices of American cheese.
The bacon was just slightly crispy, with the expected saltiness and smoky notes, but struggled against the cheese and pickled jalapenos.
The beef patty turned out nicely with an even sear and moist interior. The bun looked a little rumpled but was soft, moist, and airy.
When it came down to it, McDonald's Cheesy Jalapeno Bacon Quarter Pounder with Cheese was a letdown for me. I think they were going for a bit of a nachos feel with the jalapenos and the cheese sauce but the sauce was a bit too plain and there were too many pickled jalapenos. I tried half of it without the jalapenos but it felt like it needed a bold sauce of some sort. As it was, I would have enjoyed a regular Quarter Pounder more (or something like the Jalapeno Double).
