A 20-oz bottle costs approximately $2.29, but I received this courtesy of Mountain Dew.
Baja Blast Passionfruit Punch was a muted, dark purple color in reference to passionfruit's rind. It managed to offer the citrusy, bright aroma of its namesake fruit while also distinctively smelling like Mtn Dew.
Upon first taste, Baja Blast Passionfruit Punch tasted strangely like grape soda, including the astringent quality of grape skin that characterizes artificial grape flavor. While there was quite a bit of sweetness to be had upon initial taste, there was a notable tartness to the soda that remained throughout drinking.
The actual passionfruit flavor wasn't apparent until the end note, which then lingered in the aftertaste. It was a fairly subtle flavor, unfortunately, that could easily be confused for either pineapple or mango.
Personally, I found Mtn Dew Baja Blast Passionfruit Punch to be somewhat disappointing. Rather than passionfruit, I mostly tasted tart artificial grape with a hint of something generically tropical at the tail end. If you enjoy intense sweet and sour flavors, however, you'd probably enjoy Mtn Dew Baja Blast Passionfruit Punch.
