Capriotti's NY Chopped Cheese features chopped ground beef, melted American cheese, grilled onions, mayo, ketchup, lettuce, and tomatoes, on a toasted roll.
The Chopped Cheese is a signature sandwich of New York City that's enjoys a good amount of popularity among the locals but isn't all that well known out of the state. At it's heart, is a hamburger patty that's chopped up on the flattop grill and served topped with melted cheese on a toasted roll. Beyond that, a bodega will pretty much add whatever fixings you like from what they have on hand.
Prices for Capriotti's NY Chopped Cheese varies but a location here in the Southern California market sells them starting at $6.99 for a 5" half sub ($9.99 for an 8" small sub, $12.99 for a 10" medium, and $18.99 for an 18" large), which leaves it among the cheapest sandwiches they offer.
You can find the NY Chopped Cheese at locations across the US now for a limited time through October 2023.
