Moe's Southwest Grill's Beef Tortilla Bowl frozen meal features "Spanish inspired rice with shredded seasoned beef in enchilada sauce, cheeses, vegetables, and tortilla strips."
These normally go for $5 or more at my local supermarket but I found this one on sale for $3.
The beef was tender and seasoned while still retaining enough structure for a nice meaty bite.
The tortilla strips actually retained a decent amount of crunch despite cooking with the rest of the bowl in the microwave. They also were good for a fried corn taste.
As far as I can tell, the "vegetables" consists of roasted red bell peppers, onions, and cilantro. They don't add much as far as texture goes as they're all quite mushy but, in terms of flavor, the bell peppers stood out the most followed by the cilantro. I'm a little surprised there wasn't any beans or corn as they might have gone well here while adding more variety.
There was a good amount of melted, mild cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese. It added a nice creamy factor as well as gooey texture.
The rice was actually a little stick with a seasoned, tomato-y flavor to it. The enchilada sauce that was mixed in with everything else was tangy and moderately spicy. It also absorbed into the ingredients well so that the meal wasn't wet.
Overall, Moe's Southwest Grill's Beef Tortilla Bowl frozen meal turned out really well. The name's a little weird and makes me picture a bowl made of a tortilla but the flavors were good and balance, while the textures were quite varied.
