Taco Bell's Chile Crisp Chicken features crispy chicken strips coated in new Chile Crisp Sauce, which the chain describes as "a sweet, spicy, and citrusy sauce packed with flavorful bits of guajillo, ancho, and Anaheim peppers, garlic, lime, and other hints of aromatics."
While available, Chile Crisp Chicken can be found in two menu items: Chile Crisp Chicken Tacos and Chile Crisp Chicken Strips.
Chile Crispy Chicken Tacos feature a crispy-fried chicken strip covered in Chile Crisp Sauce served with spicy ranch, shredded lettuce, and shredded cheddar cheese folded in a warm flour tortilla. An order of two tacos will cost you $4.99.
If you opt for Chile Crisp Chicken Strips, you get three crispy-fried chicken strip coated with Chile Crisp Sauce and a side of spicy ranch for dipping for $4.99.
If you're in the Southern California area and are looking to try the new test item, you can find it now on the menu at Taco Bell located at 4101 Jamboree Rd, Newport Beach, CA 92660.
The name is an interesting choice as chili crisp is also the name for a condiment with Chinese origins that generally consists of chili oil with various seasonings and fried garlic and onion for crunch. While it's usually spicy and sometimes a little sweet, it's not usually citrusy.
