Review: Jack in the Box - Sauced and Loaded Potato Wedges

Jack in the Box's Sauced and Loaded Potato Wedges features fried potato wedges topped with shredded cheddar cheese, cheddar cheese sauce, ranch, and bacon crumbles.

An order cost $3.50.

The potato wedges were pretty thin. Some were thinner than French fries. I'm guessing that they're cut so thin so that they cook fairly quickly.

The wedges were lightly battered but only very lightly crisped here and there. My particular batch tasted and felt a bit oily--like if they had been cooked at too low a temp or in old oil. Inside, the potato was soft and relatively moist.

The shredded cheddar cheese was nicely melted with some pull to it and mixed well with the cheddar cheese sauce. They both had a creamy and mild cheddar flavor.

The bacon crumbles weren't crispy at all but offered pops of salty, smoky flavor.

The ranch adds extra creaminess on top of the cheeses along with some tang and herby notes. It's not bad but I'm not sold that it's any better than just having a rather classic combination of bacon, cheese, and potatoes.

Overall, Jack in the Box's Sauced and Loaded Potato Wedges were just okay for me although I'd bump it up if the potato wedges and bacon were crispier. I liked the general combination and ratio of the ingredients.
