The Thanksgiving birds range from 9 to 13 pounds and are marinated with a blend of Louisiana seasonings before being slow-roasted and then flash-fried for a crispy skin.
You can order them and schedule a time for pick up at a participating Popeyes restaurant starting October 17, 2023 or you can order them online now for delivery to your doorstep. They're fully cooked but come frozen-to-thawed and so need to be heated before serving (heating instructions are included). The in-store price per turkey starts at $59.99 and may vary with location. If you choose to go the online route, the Cajun-Style Turkey will cost you $99.00, which includes shipping. I should note that the online turkeys sold out last year.
If you're wondering what the turkey tastes like or just want to see actual pictures of how it turns out, you can find my review of Popeyes Cajun Turkey here.
At least some Popeyes restaurants offer the turkeys through Christmas but you'll want to check if your local Popeyes is one of them.
If you'd like to make some Cajun gravy to go with your turkey, Popeyes published a Cajun gravy recipe to make at home:
Ingredients:
- 3 Tablespoons Flour
- 1/8 Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
- 1 cup Turkey Pan Drippings
- 1 Cup Water
Directions:
- In a 2-quart saucepan, mix together the our, pepper and 3 Tbsp drippings to make a paste.
- Turn stovetop temperature to medium-high, and gradually whisk in the remaining liquids to form a smooth gravy. Continue whisking briskly until mixture comes to a full boil and thickens.
- Boil 4-5 minutes. Serve with turkey. Makes 2 cups of gravy. Double recipe for 4 cups of gravy.
