Tyson's Blackened Chicken Breast Strips feature frozen, fully-cooked, boneless, chicken breast strips coated with blackening spices.
I bought a 20-oz bag for $7.99 on sale.
The pieces varied in length and width but were all generally thin. I prepared these in the air fryer (they didn't have instructions for an air fryer but I just halved the time at a lower temperature and used a thermometer to check that they hit 165F inside), which gave them a bit of a crust here and there for sporadic crunchiness.
The chicken was fairly juicy and generally pliable although not quite tender. Initially, they weren't that spicy but that delayed heat snuck up on me for a moderate burn with moderate staying power.
Seasoning-wise, Tyson's Blackened Chicken Breast Strips reminded me of Popeyes Blackened Tenders but was somehow different and slightly not as good. They both have that garlic, onion, and paprika base to go with a spicy heat but there were some different spices or different proportions going on.
Overall, Tyson's Blackened Chicken Breast Strips turned out quite well. They have a strong punch of spicy heat, nice blackened seasonings, and good textures. I just wish the chicken was just a tad plumper but I guess that would take longer to heat.
