McDonald's Adds Lobster Butter Sauce and Black Truffle Steak Sauce for Chicken McNuggets in Japan

McDonald's Japan adds two limited-time Chicken McNugget sauces--Lobster-flavored Butter Sauce and Black-Truffle-flavored Steak Sauce--for the 2023 holiday season through December 25, 2023.

The Lobster-flavored Butter Sauce features the flavors of butter and spiny lobster accented with light soy sauce, garlic, onion, and a "secret ingredient."

The Black-Truffle-flavored Steak Sauce offers a tomato-paste-and-soy-sauce-based steak sauce tinged with sautéed onions, black pepper, garlic, and black truffle.

Both Chicken McNugget dipping sauces are part of the available choices when you order Chicken McNuggets. In concurrence with the release of the two sauce, McDonald's is running a deal in Japan where you can get a 15-piece order of Chicken McNuggets for 490 yen (~$3.33 US). They give out one dipping sauce of your choice per five Chicken McNuggets. You can also purchase extra sauces for 40 yen (~$0.27 US).

McDonald's Japan has previously offered both a lobster sauce and a steak sauce for the holidays in 2018. However, both sauces then were slightly different as the lobster sauce was mayo-based and the steak sauce was not truffle-flavored.

Christmas dinner in Japan is typically fried chicken (KFC played a large role in promoting the concept) so the special Chicken McNuggets sauces and deal caters to that.
