Taco Bell Tests New Breakfast Tots in Chicago

Taco Bell tests new Breakfast Tots for a limited time at participating locations in the Chicago area. The test sees crispy-fried potato tots seasoned with "zesty Mexican spices" added to the menu and served with scrambled eggs, 3-cheese blend (mozzarella, pepper jack, and cheddar), and a choice of bacon or sausage.

Prices range from $3.49 for the Breakfast Tots Bowl with bacon or sausage to $4.49 if you opt for steak. A combo that sees the breakfast bowl paired with either a medium fountain drink or coffee is also available. The concept reminds me of when McDonald's was testing Breakfast Bowls.

They're also testing new Nacho Tots, which features the same tots paired with nacho cheese sauce for dipping.

Given that Taco Bell already offers three other potato items with Nacho Fries, potato bites, and hash browns, a successful tot test could see one or more of them being replaced. If they turn out fairly crispy, I could see them replacing both potato bites and hash browns.
