O&H actually ships the rather hefty 24-oz pastry nationwide but it'll cost you $23.99 plus shipping. However, Trader Joe's carries them nationwide in the fall for $9.99, which is how I picked this one up. I imagine the one shipped directly from O&H is probably fresher than the ones at Trader Joe's but you can't beat the price.
The pastry was nicely layered and flaky with quite a bit of almond filling inside. There was a mellow, buttery quality to it.
You can eat these warm or at room temperature. They heat up easily in any sort of oven (including the air fryer) or microwave. They recommend 3.5 minutes in the oven at 350F in the oven. You can also go for about 6 to 10 seconds in the microwave on high. I went with the air fryer and while, it warmed up nicely, it didn't quite want to get crispy and I was afraid that leaving it for longer might make a mess of the icing. The fondant icing has that slightly waxy texture and is mostly just sweet.
The almond filling was smooth, rich, and quite heavy. It's basically marzipan in taste and texture from what I can tell.
As the Almond Danish Kringle is fairly sweet and filling, you may want to cut it into pieces, tightly wrap them with plastic wrap, and freeze them as they keep pretty well that way.
Taken altogether, Trader Joe's O&H Almond Danish Kringle makes for a pretty tasty pastry treat as long as you like marzipan as that's the main driver here.
