Review: Trader Joe's - Garlicky Pasta

A bag of Trader Joe's Garlicky Pasta.

Trader Joe's Garlicky Pasta is a frozen meal that features "Italian pasta in a creamy, umami, garlic sauce."

A 16-oz bag cost me $4.29.

Garlicky Pasta is Trader Joe's take on an Asian fusion dish called "Garlic Noodles" that was popularized by Thanh Long, a restaurant in San Francisco.

The pasta felt a bit more firm and just slightly larger than spaghetti. It was al dente with a nice chew to it, even out of the microwave.

The sauce offered a buttery garlic flavor tinged with the salty bite of cheese and an additional savory touch of soy sauce, oyster sauce, and fish sauce. There's also just a slight heat to it. It's pretty oily but moderate in terms of flavor.

Overall, Trader Joe's Garlicky Pasta turned out pretty well. It is simply noodles in sauce so you can definitely add protein and/or vegetables for some variety but it offers just enough flavor so that you can also just eat it as is.
