The new breakfast snack features the "soft, fluffy texture" of Donettes mini donuts covered with the "warm cinnamon and sweet vanilla glaze flavor" of Hostess HoneyBuns. The new mini donuts are made without high-fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, or artificial flavor.
According to Hostess, the new sweet option is meant to meet a demand for "new flavor combinations" and that "the melding of distinct tastes and textures offers a unique snacking experience."
HoneyBun Donettes are the second recent mashup by Hostess and follows on last year's Hostess Ding Dongs x Twinkies Mashups, which paired the golden cake and signature crème filling of Twinkies with the fudgy chocolate frosting of Ding Dongs. You can find my review of that mash up here.
Hostess HoneyBun Donettes are set to roll out to grocery retailers and convenience stores nationwide starting in early March 2024. They'll be available in shareable bags as well as a single-serve packs.
