An 8-oz box was $2.99 on sale (the suggested retail price is $6.99).
These enchiladas appear to be a replacement for Real Good Food's previous Chicken Enchiladas (which I reviewed here), which differed as they came in a chicken-and-egg-based shell instead of a tortilla and were dressed with a tangy verde (green) sauce.
The switch to a flour tortilla is a plus for me. The tortilla actually crisped up where it wasn't covered in cheese or sauce, even though I heated it up in the microwave. It also provided a bit of a chew to the dish.
Inside each rolled up tortilla was a generous amount of lightly-seasoned, tender, and juicy chicken as well as enough melted Monterey Jack cheese for a stretchy pull.
The creamy poblano sauce brought everything together with a rich tanginess and moderate heat from jalapenos as well as a bit of pepper flavor from the jalapenos and poblanos.
When it comes down to it, Real Good Food's Creamy Poblano Chicken Enchiladas made for a really enjoyable dish that came together quite nicely. It offered both a variety of distinct textures and flavors and did not feel like a compromise product like its predecessor.
