Review: Checkers & Rally's - Frozen Famous Seasoned Fries

A bag of Checkers / Rally's frozen Famous Seasoned Fries.

Checkers & Rally's Famous Seasoned Fries are sold in grocery stores frozen in a bag that describes them as "crispy French fried seasoned potatoes."

A 28-oz bag was $4.49 (it's normally $5.99).

While the bag didn't include instructions, I prepped these in the air fryer for about half the baking time on the default "air fry" setting. The fries turned out really well with a crispy exterior and a tender and moist interior. They're not quite as good as fresh-fried ones from Checkers & Rally's but they're 90% there and are better than if you get a batch that's been sitting in the warmer for too long.

Flavor-wise, the Famous Seasoned Fries tasted mostly the same as most fast-food seasoned fries, which generally offer light touches of onion, garlic, paprika, black pepper, and salt. Of particular note here was a strong, lightly spicy dose of black pepper.

At the end of the day, Checkers & Rally's frozen Famous Seasoned Fries turned out really well with an enjoyable flavor and great textures. I don't live near a Checkers or Rally's restaurant so these are especially compelling for me.
