Review: Little Caesars - Cheese & Herb Crazy Puffs

Four Little Caesars Cheese & Herb Crazy Puffs in a box.

Little Caesars Cheese & Herb Crazy Puffs feature pizza puffs filled with pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese and topped with buttery garlic-flavored sauce plus Italian herb and parmesan seasoning.

An order of four Crazy Puffs cost me $3.99 (i.e. roughly a buck per Puff).

After missing a good number of components on my first try at this, I'm happy to report that the second time is the charm.

Little Caesars' Crazy Puff is basically a small muffin-sized cup of pizza dough with cheese, sauce, and seasoning layered in a center indention. They remind me of popovers but made with dough instead of batter. I saw them making some and the Crazy Puffs seemed to be baked in a muffin tin or something very similar.

The crust/puff portion was fairly airy and puffy with a slight, soft chewiness. The surface was lightly crisped and dry rather than oily and crispy like the chain's Italian Cheese Bread and Deep Dish Pizza. It sported the same browned and crispy cheese at the top edge though.

There wasn't an abundant amount of cheese inside each puff but there was enough for a savory, creamy flavor and a slight bit of stretchiness. The pizza sauce was fairly spare but contributed welcomed hints of sweetness and tomato-y tanginess. The herbs on top added a slight touch of oregano to go with buttery garlic notes. The parmesan was light and was good for mostly salt.

I have to say Little Caesars Cheese & Herb Crazy Puffs turned out really well. With a dry, relatively mess-free crust surface, they work out nicely for on-the-go snacking. While small, the varied textures and flavors were well-balanced.
