According to A&W, there are about 108,000 centenarians who can take advantage of the freebie. If you happen to be 100 or more, you can stop by any participating US location, mention the promotion, and get a free small root beer (no purchase necessary). The freebie is available once a week per person and ID may be required (depending on the location).
A&W is not just the oldest fast-food restaurant in the US, it's the oldest restaurant chain that still exists. The chain got its start as a root beer stand in 1919 in the city of Lodi, CA, which had a population of less than 5,000 back then.
