Review: Wendy's - Triple Berry Frosty

Side view of Wendy's Triple Berry Frosty.

Wendy's Triple Berry Frosty features Vanilla Frosty mix churned with new Triple Berry Flavored Syrup, which offers "strawberry, blackberry, raspberry, and other natural flavors."

A small cost me $2.69.

Top-down view of Wendy's Triple Berry Frosty.

The Triple Berry Frosty sports a light purple color (the yellow lighting of the restaurant made it look like strawberry in my photos though). It was lightly creamy with a slightly tart vague berry flavor. It's vague in that there weren't any notes of strawberry, blackberry, or raspberry that sprung out.

My particular Frosty was thick and fairly smooth. You'd have to try really hard to suck it up a straw.

Given the similar flavor and color, it seems a number of folks have compared it to McDonald's Grimace Shake of last summer. They both have a similar generic berry flavor but the Grimace Shake came in a deeper shade of purple (probably to match the Grimace character).

A spoonful of Wendy's Triple Berry Frosty.

Like the Grimace Shake, Wendy's Triple Berry Frosty was similar to cheap ice cream. It's still nice, especially on a hot day, but it's not exactly going to take you to flavor town.
