Donatos Launches New Calzato

Donatos Pizza launches the new Calzato as a portable handheld that sounds like a slightly more premium take on Pizza Hut's P'Zone (which has since been replaced with the Melt).

The Calzato is made with the pizza chain's thin-crust dough, which is folded into a half-moon shape, baked, and sprinkled with a mix of Romano, Asiago, and olive oil. Each comes filled with up to three toppings of your choice along with sauce and cheese.

As a promotion for the new menu item, Donatos is offering the Calzato for $7.99 through July 28, 2024.

The name "Calzato" seems to be a portmanteau of "calzone" and "Donato." However, the word also means "shod" in Italian. I'm not sure if they bothered to check.
