As a bit of entertainment, the soft pretzel chain surveyed the two different ways that Americans pronounce "auntie." According to Auntie Anne's findings, 54% of Americans pronounce Auntie as "AHN-TEE" while 46% pronounce the word as "ANT-EE".
However, when referring to Auntie Anne's, more people refer to the chain as "ANT-EE Anne's" instead of "AHN-TEE Anne's" (34% compared to 24%). Oddly, some people also call the chain "Aunt Annies" according to the survey.
Other results from the survey showed that:
- Americans prefer their pretzels sweet (49%) over salty (35%) by a fair amount. Other favored flavors include spicy (12%) and nutty (5%).
- Cheese (38%) is the number one dip of choice for pretzels followed by mustard (26%), cream cheese (7%), and ranch (4%).
