Review: Jack in the Box - Mini Chimi Bang Bangs

Jack in the Box's Mini Chimi Bang Bangs next to a quarter.

Jack in the Box's Mini Chimi Bang Bangs (AKA Mini Chimichangas) are mini deep-fried burritos with a "Southwest chicken filling."

A 3-piece order was $3.50.

My particular Chimi Bang Bangs looked and felt a bit dry out of their pouch. I'm not sure if they had been left to sit out too long but the thin, crackly shell felt more baked than fried. The shell too quickly gave way to soft, chewy layers underneath.

Breaking open one of the chimichangas yielded an unattractive yellow paste with occasional beans and corn. There was a mild Southwest seasoning to the filling and some sparse shreds of chicken. They included a few packets of taco sauce, which added some welcomed tang and heat.

When it comes down to it, Jack in the Box's Mini Chimi Bang Bangs were quite disappointing. While the general flavor of the filling was nice enough, there wasn't all that much filling to each burrito and the deep-fried quality was lacking.
