Jimmy Dean's Sausage, Egg, & Cheese Croissant Sandwich features "savory sausage, fluffy eggs, and melty cheese on a buttery croissant."
An 18-oz box contains four sandwiches and was $5.99 on sale (normally $8.79).
The croissant looked and felt the part on the surface. However, inside it was almost your standard white sandwich bread, albeit with a slight buttery quality and a slightly wispy tear to it. There was just a bit of a sweetness to it but not much flakiness. I recommend giving it a little toasting either in a toaster oven, air fryer, or on a pan for the additional texture.
The cheese was nicely melted and visually apparent. If I was waxing metaphorically, I would say it showed up to the party but never made it to the dance floor. It was very mild even for American cheese.
The sausage was well seasoned and dense with a nice meaty chew. It provided a majority of the breakfast sandwich's flavor.
The egg was decidedly not fluffy. It was an uncannily uniform puck with a very mild egg flavor. On the plus side, the general uniformity of the ingredients, from top to bottom, meant that I got meat, egg, cheese, and bread in every bite.
Despite its flaws, Jimmy Dean's Sausage, Egg & Cheese Croissant Sandwich still makes for a passably enjoyable breakfast sandwich that's convenient and cheap at the price I paid. While I wasn't expecting a butter croissant for the money, I was hoping for more of a croissant-like texture from the bread. I would go for the biscuit version of the same.
