The chicken came in good-sized pieces that were fairly tender and had a meaty bite. The dumplings were soft, chewy, and dense. If you've never tried chicken and dumplings or something similar, the dumplings are pieces of dough tossed in a simmering or boiling broth.
Veggies include a mix of carrots, peas, celery, and corn. They retained a surprising amount of flavor and texture. I wonder if they were blanched, flash-freezed, and added to the meals later separately from the broth.
The broth had a mild herby note to go with a pretty robust, savory base. It was definitely more complex than your typical frozen food sauce/gravy. It tied together all the other components very well.
Taken all together, I thoroughly enjoyed Marie Callender's Creamy Chicken & Dumplings Bowl. I particularly liked the flavor and texture of the vegetables and the herby, flavorful sauce.
