Review: Tyson - Honey Chicken Bites

A bag of Tyson Honey Chicken Bites.

Tyson Honey Chicken Bites feature boneless chicken breast pieces coated with honey-flavored breading.

A 24-oz bag costs about $8.50 but I received this courtesy of Tyson.

The breading on the chicken was fairly thick with a crunchy bloom structure that was a little powdery. There was a thin, moist, and slightly gummy layer underneath the crunch. In flavor, there was a honeyed sweetness to the breading to go with a light seasoning. According to the ingredients, the breading is sweetened with a combination of high-fructose corn syrup, honey, molasses, sucralose, and sugar.

The chicken inside was tender and juicy while still keeping a meaty texture. For the most part, the pieces were a good size and thickness.

Taken altogether, Tyson's Honey Chicken Bites were just okay for me. I liked the meatiness and crunch but the breading was too thick and wasn't crunchy all the way through. The sweetness reminded me of when Popeyes offered Chicken Waffle Tenders.
