The Meximelt arrived in the late 1980s and features a melted three-cheese blend (mozzarella, cheddar, and Monterey Jack), pico de gallo (originally it was made with "fiesta salsa" which was pico de gallo), and seasoned ground beef folded in a soft flour tortilla. It costs $2.99 during the test.
The Beef Gordita Supreme debuted in the 1990s (along with the Baja and Sante Fe Gorditas) and features seasoned ground beef, reduced-fat sour cream, shredded lettuce, a three-cheese blend, and diced tomatoes, folded in a pillowy warm flatbread. It's priced at $2.99.
Introduced in the 2000s, the Caramel Apple Empanada features a crispy-fried empanada filled with apple pieces and a caramelly, creamy filling for $2.99.
