Taco Bell's Double Decker Taco features of a crunchy taco (a taco shell filled with seasoned ground beef, shredded lettuce, and cheddar cheese) wrapped in a soft flour tortilla with a layer of refried beans holding them together. It carries a suggested price of $2. A Supreme version is also available and adds on reduced-fat sour cream and diced tomatoes.
Originally a limited-time fast-food item introduced in 1995, it eventually made it on to the permanent menu but was discontinued in 2019. It was brought back for a short, limited-time run in December 2023.
It's an interesting that's no longer a regular menu fixture as Taco Bell has all the ingredients to make it on hand and currently offers the very similar Double Stacked Taco as a value menu item (the Double Stacked Taco comes with a layer of nacho cheese instead of refried beans and includes fiesta strips for added crunch).
