It's called the "Kyoto Whopper" as the special rice patty was made in collaboration with Hachidaime Gihey, a renowned rice supplier that started as a rice store in Kyoto all the way back in 1787. The rice patty is made with a blend of white rice and brown rice.
To complement the rice patty and beef patty, the burger also features a special Japanese-style ginger sauce made with dashi soy sauce infused with four traditional Japanese spices: roasted chili pepper, Japanese pepper, ginger, and dried citrus peel." The Kyoto Whopper also includes lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo.
Available for a limited time, the Kyoto Whopper costs 990 yen (~$6.41 US) a la carte or 1,290 yen ($8.36 US) for a combo meal.
While a burger with rice patties as buns (AKA a rice burger) is offered notably at Japanese fast-food chain MOS Burger, adding a rice patty onto a regular burger bun lends a similar effect but with a carb-on-carb twist.
