Taco Bell Tests New Crispy Chicken Burrito and Taco

Taco Bell's Crispy Chicken Burrito and Crispy Chicken Taco.
Taco Bell tests new Crispy Chicken Burritos and Crispy Chicken Tacos for a limited time at participating locations in Michigan's Flint-Saginaw-Bay City metro area.

The key feature of the test items is a white-meat chicken breast strip seasoned with "bold Mexican" spices, rolled in a crunchy tortilla chip breading, and deep-fried.

Taco Bell's Crispy Chicken Burrito offers two crispy chicken strips, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, and either new Spicy Ranchero or Avocado Ranch wrapped in a flour tortilla. Depending on the location, the burritos cost between $4.99 and $5.49. The Burrito is also available as part of a combo with a Chalupa Supreme, Crunchy Taco Supreme, Nacho Fries, and a medium fountain drink for $9.99.

The Crispy Chicken Taco consists of a crispy chicken strip, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, and a choice of Spicy Ranchero or Avocado Ranch folded in a warm flour tortilla. It carries a suggested price of $2.99.

The crispy chicken strips are also available a la carte in a two-piece order with dipping sauce for $3.99 (may vary).

I couldn't find a description of the new Spicy Ranchero sauce but here are its listed ingredients:

"Ranchero Sauce: Soybean oil, water, vinegar, tomato paste, corn syrup, anaheim chili pepper puree, egg yolks, sour cream powder (cultured sour cream (cream, skim milk solids, cultures), skim milk solids, whey, sugar, citric acid, lactic acid), contains 2% or less of: salt, sugar, onion powder, dehydrated green bell pepper, garlic powder, spices, paprika, extractives of paprika, Xanthan gum, jalapeno pepper, starter distillate, yeast extract, potassium sorbate (P), sodium benzoate (P), lactic acid, Natural flavors, citric acid, modified guar gum, maltodextrin, calcium disodium EDTA (P). Contains: Egg, milk."

Generally, ranchero sauce is a tomato-based sauce with peppers, garlic, onion, and other seasonings. Taco Bell's version is cut with mayo. They sell a version of it in grocery stores.
