Review: KFC Cherry Pie Toppers

Two KFC Cherry Pie Topper next to a quarter.

KFC Cherry Pie Poppers feature snack-sized bites of warm cherry pie filling wrapped in a "buttery, flaky" crust.

Four Poppers cost me $2.99.

The Cherry Pie Poppers weren't very hot. It seemed like they had been sitting in the warmer for a while as they weren't very crispy either. They felt like they had been fried at some point as they had that oiliness to them but the crust wasn't all that flaky or buttery. The crumb (bread speak for "interior") was soft and chewy with layers that didn't quite develop during cooking.

Inside, there wasn't much filling, and what was there was very mild in terms of flavor. It wasn't even that tangy or sweet.

After trying one, I tossed the rest in the air fryer. The result was much better in terms of crunch and texture but the flavor was still lacking.

Overall, KFC Cherry Pie Poppers were pretty disappointing. They're similar to bite-sized streusel from the supermarket but weren't as tasty.
