A 5.5-oz costs around $6.29 but I received this courtesy of Skittles.
These are so named as the freeze-drying process causes the Skittles to burst open. Where regular Skittles have a chewy, gel-like center, Skittles Pop'd have a puffed texture similar to honeycomb candy and Cocoa Puffs cereal. There's a nice crispy crunch to them throughout.
Flavor-wise, they taste the same as regular Skittles but with a more intensely sweet and fruity flavor.
Overall, Original Skittle Pop'd are worth trying if you've never had freeze-dried candy before as there's an enjoyable novelty factor at play. The crunch was pretty satisfying and, if you're a fan of Skittles, the bolder flavor is unlikely to disappoint.
