I paid $3.49 for one.
While the new Caliente sauce has a mayo base with a bit of tang and sweetness, what comes across against the backdrop of everything else in the taco is a fruity pepper note and a moderate amount of spicy heat. With the addition of the limited-time sauce, the included Avocado Verde Salsa is somewhat unnecessary but can be good for extra tangy notes if you want it.
My taco shell was slightly stale and brittle with a weak crunch to it. It only had a layer of melted cheese on one side but it didn't suffer for it. I still got some stretchy cheese and browned cheese flavor from it. Additional melted cheese was included inside the shell.
The chicken was moist with a nice meaty bite and flavor to it. It went well with the Caliente sauce.
At the end of the day, Taco Bell's Caliente Cantina Chicken Crispy Taco made for some good eating. The new sauce made for a welcomed layer of flavor and heat without too much extra saltiness. The shell could have been better on this visit but the chicken and cheese turned out well.
