Around the World: Mos Burger Japan's Latest is a French Cruller Burger with Chorizo

Japanese burger chain Mos Burger is offering a new, limited-time French Cruller Burger with a spiraled chorizo sausage instead of a beef patty. The donut burger is part of a collaboration with Mister Donut (they call it "MOSDO!") and also includes a few other cross-over menu items like a dessert version of Mos Burgers' signature Rice Burgers exclusively available at Mister Donut locations in Japan.

Around the World: MOS Burger Japan Introduces Seasonal Rice Burgers

Out in Japan, MOS Burger introduces two new seasonal winter rice burgers, a dish you'd be hard pressed to find here in the U.S.

Instead of a bun, the burgers feature a formed rice patty brushed with soy sauce and grilled to help it maintain its cohesiveness. The buns are pretty much the same as the "yaki onigiri" or "grilled rice balls" you might find at some Japanese restaurants.

MOS Burger began serving rice burgers in 1987 (I would guess to better appeal to the Asian market) and continues to do so to this day.  I've always thought it was an interesting idea and finally got to try one while in Taiwan.

MOS Burger is a Japanese burger chain popular in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore (It also has locations in Thailand, Indonesia, and until 2005, in Hawaii). The chain was inspired by the Original Tommy's in Los Angeles, CA which explains the similarities between their signature MOS Burger and Tommy's burgers. MOS stands for "Mountain, Ocean, and Sun."
