Review: Wendy's - Fresh Baked Oatmeal Bar

Wendy's Fresh Baked Oatmeal Bar is part of Wendy's currently-shelved (but still offered at select locations) breakfast test. It's a fairly sizable bar featuring oats, blueberries and cranberries.

The Wendy's breakfast location I went to has them on the menu for $1.29 each.

Review: Wendy's - Steel-Cut Oatmeal

Part of Wendy's ongoing breakfast test includes Steel-Cut Oatmeal. It's kettle-cooked and offered with either apples chunks and caramel sauce or with dried cranberries, roasted pecans, and brown sugar.

The price on a cup was $2.59 and I went with the Cranberries and Pecans.

Review: Wendy's - Updated Sausage Biscuit

Wendy's Sausage Biscuit is on the Everyday Breakfast Value Menu of their ongoing breakfast test and is priced at 99 cents. I tried their Sausage Biscuit back in 2009 and it seems they upgraded it a bit.

It's pretty simple with a grilled all-natural sausage patty sandwiched inside two halves of a fresh-baked Southern-style buttermilk biscuit brushed with butter.

Review: Wendy's - Mornin' Melt Panini

Wendy's Mornin' Melt Panini is part of their ongoing breakfast test and comes with natural Asiago and Cheddar cheeses, fresh-cracked eggs seasoned with salt and pepper, your choice of grilled all-natural sausage or applewood-smoked bacon and a tomato slice pressed between two slices of buttered sourdough bread brushed.

I picked up the Mornin' Melt Panini with Bacon and it was the priciest sandwich on the breakfast menu at $2.99.

Review: Wendy's - Bacon Fire Roasted Burrito

Wendy's Bacon Fire Roasted Burrito is part of their "fresh made" breakfast test and features applewood-smoked bacon, roasted poblano chilies, red peppers, and onions with natural shredded cheddar and pepper jack cheese and scrambled eggs wrapped in a multi-grain tortilla and pressed. It's served with hot sauce on the side.

I picked up a burrito for $2.69.

Review: Wendy's - Sunny Side Burger

Wendy's Sunny Side Burger is part of their current breakfast test and features a fresh-cracked egg, natural Asiago cheese, your choice of Applewood Smoked Bacon or all-natural sausage, Hollandaise sauce,  and a Jr. burger patty served on a toasted honey-wheat artisan ciabatta.

I went with bacon and the sandwich cost $2.79.

Review: Wendy's - Seasoned Home-Style Potatoes

Wendy's Seasoned Home-Style Potatoes are the offered in the same slot occupied by hash browns and tater tots at other fast food chains. They feature skin-on, half-wheels of battered and fried potatoes, seasoned with sea salt, cracked pepper, and garlic powder.

It's part of the breakfast value menu and an order cost me 99 cents. The container is about the size of a small fry box.

Feature: Wendy's Breakfast Test 2012 Update

Wendy's Breakfast Test has gone through several iterations now, and apparently, it's still not getting the results they want to go nationally yet.

It's been over a year since I tried the previous version of the test, so I thought it was time to once again check out how the breakfast test is going. Be sure to check in throughout the week as I will be posting reviews of the test items daily.

Here's a full list of the items I've tried:

Review: Wendy's - Maple Baked Frescuit

Wendy's answer to the McGriddle (at least an answer they're testing), the Maple Baked Frescuit features a biscuit with maple syrup baked in rather than a pancake. The rest is the same with the standard choice of bacon or sausage with egg and cheese.

I picked one up for $2.69.

Wendy's Sausage & Egg Burrito is part of a breakfast test at one of my local Wendy's restaurants and is very simple with only cut-up sausage, scrambled egg, and American cheese wrapped up in a small flour tortilla for 99 cents.

Review: Wendy's - Cinnamon Swirl

I tried Wendy's Cinnamon Swirl at a local Wendy's where they serve breakfast as part of the chain's testing. It's basically a cinnamon roll with icing and similar to McDonald's Cinnamon Melts and is priced the same at $1.69.

Features: Revisiting Wendy's Breakfast Test

Back in '08, I wrote about trying Wendy's breakfast test and some of the items they were offering at the time. Now it's 2011 and, somehow, they're still working out the kinks.

One of my local Wendy's restaurants is still serving breakfast, but it looks a little bit different from their most recent and fancier looking test. It looks my local joint is serving up items from an older test perhaps maybe because they still have the equipment for it.

The items I tried were:

- The Cinnamon Swirl
- The Classic Breakfast Sandwich
- The Sausage & Egg Burrito
- The Maple Baked Frescuit Bacon & Egg Sandwich
